Howline - The Charity That Supports Werewolves

Welcome to Howline. We're the charity that helps werewolves, whether freshly-turned or born with wolfsblood. We do this through providing vetted advice, clear and accessible information, campaigns, education, and live 24/7 support lines.

How can we help you?

Our top asked questions, and their answers.

I'm newly turned

If you've recently become a werewolf, you're going to experience a lot of new things you may have little idea about. We understand that the event of a bite can be often traumatising and upsetting for many people. Here at Howline, we offer information, confidential support, and classes for the new werewolf.

I know someone who is newly turned

Supporting someone through the transition to lycanthropy can be difficult. It can be a scary, worrying time when someone you care about is going through a complex change, and we here at Howline know that. We have advice to help you support other people, and yourself. We also allow non-werewolves to participate in some classes to learn more about the condition and how to manage it safely.

I'm looking for information on werewolves

Howline offers a comprehensive free online database about the history and physiology of werewolves, which can be accessed here.

I need urgent help

If someone you know is about to transform and poses a danger of hurting themselves or others through the change, immediately call 999 and ask for the police. Tell the operator there is a werewolf at risk. Evacuate the area and stay far away from the transforming wolf. Do not try and reason with the wolf. Do not approach the wolf. Do not alert the wolf to your presence. Remove yourself from the situation and wait for emergency responders.

If you are about to transform and you do not have control of your wolf, immediately call 999 and inform the operator you are an uncontrolled werewolf and you are about to transform. If possible, lock yourself in a room with solid brick or concrete walls. Don't try and restrain yourself in any way- chains, ropes, handcuffs or other items will only injure you and will not stop the wolf. Keep far away from other people. DO NOT APPROACH CROWDED AREAS.

If you or someone you know is struggling with thoughts of self-harm and suicide, please contact our helpline, or view these resources. In case of immediate threat to life through self-induced means, call 999 and ask for the ambulance service.

Howline's Guidelines for Changing Areas

Our mission

Howline works hard to ensure werewolves across the UK have access to comprehensive resources and information, as well as aid, support, and community. We fight for werewolf causes and strive for better treatment and destigmatisation.

What issues does Howline campaign on?

Werewolves face many struggles in today's world. It's even harder for those already from racialised communities, ethnic minorities, people in poverty, young people, and people with existing health conditions. But Howline wants to change that.

We're fighting on behalf of werewolves in many ways, from reforming the Werewolf Registry, pushing to provide more safe places to change, improving werewolf healthcare, and banning harmful "cures" still peddled in the UK. Read about our current campaigns below and see how you can help.

Campaigning for Change

We're calling on councils across the UK to step up for werewolves and provide better, safer places for people to change. Current options are often dangerously neglected, unclean, and structurally unsafe, discouraging users and leading to people trying to change in potentially unsafe places. This puts many people at unnecessary risk.

With help from our experts and members of the public, we've produced a comphrensive set of guidelines for changing areas that we want to see councils implementing.

Magistrate's hammer on some papers

People, Not Predators

This year, a new law has been proposed by the UK government suggesting that all werewolves on the current registry should be considered "high-risk individuals". This divisive label would mean that people who are werewolves would be barred from working with vulnerable persons, such as children, the elderly, or the disabled, without undergoing vigorous and invasive testing. The new provision would be appended onto the latest Care Act, which will replace the previous Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act. Here at Howline we consider the idea of werewolves being dangerous people incredibly offensive and outdated. Help us prevent this provision passing through the House of Lords.
