The NISCC helps control and manage supernatural occurances in the UK.
This site is not an emergency resource. In the case of an emergency or any situation where there is an immediate threat to life, please dial 999 and ask for a bridger.
Our rescues, recoveries, recent sightings, and more.
↩A casualty was rescued from the Greenwoods yesterday evening. The 36-year old alleged to have entered the forest in 1968, which would make him one of the longest cases of temporal displacement seen in twenty years. He suffered mild hypothermia, shock, and possible psychosis. He has been placed in the ward of the NHS and his case is currently being handled by police and the NISCC.
↩A black dog has been reported around the churchyard and graveyard at dusk and dawn. The NISCC is looking into these sightings. Please take necessary precautions when travelling at twilight.
↩Water horses return to the Blaircliff beaches with the new season. Beachgoers are reminded to stay between the red flags when swimming and to carry protection charms when walking near water. Do not approach stray animals, particularly white or black horses. If you see a nude person (of any gender) standing in the surf and calling you by name, stay away and inform the NISCC staff present at the Lifeguard station.
↩The NISCC would like to formally state that the recent murder outside the Hanged Lamb pub was a secular act and is outside of our jurisdiction. Please take all tips or information to the local police service, and not to our team.
↩Three women and a dog were rescued from a field that had turned into a barrow by a bridger team. All four casualties were unharmed, though one woman had her name stolen. Through the work of our bridgers and cunning folk, we were able to return her name. The fairy that trapped them was released unharmed with sufficent warning.
The NISCC is an independent non-profit organisation dedicated to ensuring the safe coexistence of the secular and the supernatural. Our mission is to uphold peace between the hidden folk and humanity. We are associated with the Royal College of Supernatural Study.
Founded in 1802 by Lord Robert Bridge, the NISCC has existed for over 200 years to help ensure safe coexistence between the secular and the supernatural. Below is a timeline of our history.
The Institute of Hunting Supernatural Quarry is formed by Lord Robert Bridges, and primarily employs students and faculty from the Royal College of Supernatural Study. Those who work for him are officially named Hunters, but gain the unoffical nickname "bridgers" from the founder's name.
The Blaircliff dragon is deconstructed by Lord Robert Bridges using the legendary Falcon weapon.
The invention of dialogue tattoos simplifies spellwork, making it far easier for bridgers to use magic in the field.
236 people rescued from a barrow lord in Falmouth, marking the biggest recovery of casualties from a single faery abduction in history.
The Carlisle disaster occurs. Thirteen bridgers lose their lives and a further four are vanished in a conflict between Puck and the Barghest.
Women were allowed to join the IHSQ for the first time as men went to war.
A 19 year old man from 1734 is rescued from the Greenwoods. This stands as the record for longest temporal displacement in the UK.
The IHSQ helped redefine ley lines and Greenwoods boundaries after the devastion of air raids.
IHSQ renamed to NISCC to reflect modern views on the supernatural and national outreach. The official term for bridgers is renamed from Hunter to Containment Officer.
Members of the dissolved Domini Canes are allowed to join the NISCC, marking the first werewolf bridgers.
The disaster at Brynsadler occurs. A large portion of the new M4 Motorway is destroyed, twenty people including NISCC members are killed, and four bridgers disappear.
The Brynsadler Beast is deconstructed by Carys Morgan wielding the legendary Falcon weapon. This is the first manifestation of the Falcon in over a hundred years.
A 23 year old German Luftwaffe pilot is rescued from the Greenwoods, having fallen in after getting shot down. He is repatriated to Germany.
The Aberdeen Boar is deconstructed by bridger Vincent Felski using the Falcon weapon.
Two bridgers aged 23 and 42 from the Carlisle disaster are recovered from the ocean. Sadly, they drowned before they were discovered. Their bodies were given to their grandchildren for burial.

You don't need any specific skills to apply- all training is provided by the NISCC. Enthusiasm, commitment and the ability to work as part of a team are the most important traits we value.
Commonly known as bridgers, they are the most important part of the NISCC, and have the most demanding role. Bridgers deal directly with supernatural threats and work in the field, exposing themselves to danger in order to save lives. Anyone over the age of 18 may apply, though as this role is physically strenous you must be reasonably fit and able. Bridger training takes 30 months to complete, during which you will be educated on and receive basic spells, charms, wards, blessings and sanctifications as befitting your personal religion or lack thereof. You will be taught self-defence and gain a high standard of personal fitness. You will recieve firearms training and be issued a firearms licence, and receive extensive first aid training for aiding casualties. The initial training period is six months, after which you will learn in the field, and recieve your full licence and certifications by 30 months. You will be retested periodically to maintain NISCC training standards. As the NISCC works closely with the police, you will be required to undergo a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check. An optional driver's course is available for those who do not have a current licence- this must be paid for out of pocket.
Our Search and Rescue teams work closely with our bridger teams to rescue casualties from any situation. While many bridgers also work S&R, you are not required to be certified as a bridger to be one of our rescue workers. You will be working in all kinds of weather conditions and places, including potentially hazardous terrain. While you will not be directly exposed to supernatural forces, you may still need to venture into subtle domains. A four month course is required for this role.
Cunning folk provide a public service for non-threatening supernatural occurances and victims of supernatural afflictions, with a wide range of skills including cursebreaking, protection charms, divination, exorcisms, and speaking with spirits. While many people can learn to become a cunning folk, those at the NISCC are trained to the highest standards and perform standardised and efficient work that has been thoroughly proven. We provide a safer alterative for those seeking common magic. To join us as one of our cunningfolk, it's recommended to have some understanding of basic spellwork and the ability to cast spells, though you will be trained during your two-month course with us.
It's not all about fieldwork. Our administration workers keep the NISCC organised, active, and well-funded.
The NISCC gladly welcomes werewolves in its ranks and we uphold a strong ethos of equality and diversity. As a werewolf, you will recieve the same training as non-werewolf staff, with an additional two month course on self defence and protection while shifted for werewolf bridgers. You will be held to the same standards as non-werewolf staff and are expected to have full control over your shift. You will recieve PTO for the Hunter's Moon.
Find out how you can support our mission through donations and volunteering. Every penny helps us protect your safety. We are not publicly owned and rely on your charity to keep functioning.
