Site update log and home of my increasingly more annoyed rambling. I hate coding and I have to let everyone know.
blaircliff is done! way more javascript fun this time. look i remembered i actually went to college for computing and pulled out my old work to use. hope ur proud of me teach.
Anyways. gotta create some final assets for blaircliff and then i'm calling that a day and starting on Dog eat Dog. well. i should really fix the whitestone company page first but eh.
ive also been really nosy and looked at everyones sites code and wow am i the only dumb bastard using code comments?? i love leaving little notes all over my work it reminds me what the fuck its supposed to do when i inevitably drop it and return months later with a blank mind. also it was ingrained in me by my education
more work, kinda basically finished the White Swift page + company pages. could add more but euegheheheheh cant be fucked. task force 13 next since they're kinda technically linked to SUNSET?? you'll get it when you see it. remade rampant cockatrice asset to be a cleaner image and fixed the spacing. love my big chicken logo. actually started on work for the ISCC page aka Blaircliff, need to make that one a logo for the index page.
major updates. full redesign of lander page. im finally fuckin' adding some other stories here. yep im turning this into my personal webbed site and not just SUNSET's lore store. it sucks major fucking ass. i still hate coding. gonna fully redesign everything from the ground up because Wow this coding is dogshit. sunsets gonna look cool as fuck though yayyyy and mobile friendly yayyy
Minor updates. Still fucking with the home & lander page. Added second GIF to creatures sidebar.
Made an update log. Hi. Using this as a way to vent my frustrations with coding in a way that doesn't piss off my IG followers or spam my Neocities page.
Major updates coming to the site- swapping the theme used entirely. Old theme was fun but was not mobile compatible and that's important to me (sadly I am a mobile user first...). Also a majority of my existing audience are mobile users. Love you guys.
New theme is fun but my god. I have to make so many assets. I really like the new shattered sun logo / themeing, that's cool as shit. The blinking eye was a cool idea until I actually had to make it. Who knew a simple five frame GIF could take three hours. I have plans for the other menu icons too.
Trying to add a fun lander page too. How the FUCK you're supposed to layer an image over another in HTML I don't fucking know. I just want the little home star to be closer to the sun ;-; you can stand on the logo little friend, it's okay. Z-Index why do you fail me so.
Also played with the concept of a VN and nearly broke my fucking computer. Fuck that noise. JavaScript I love you but also die.
I want to add more funky interactive stuff to this page. I've been looking at some really cool sites (TWELVEMEN, N6, SPECGENS) and want to do something similar. A little ARG-like, almost. Still gonna keep the basics of this site accessible and easy (all main pages) but want to have fun with character pages and ESPECIALLY with the stories. SUNSET was always intended to be a multi-media project, encompassing many small stories in one universe told through various mediums (art, writing, sculpture, animation, and yes, webgames). Gonna really have to lock in on it though lol.
I've got a new job lined up which is essentially gonna kill all my free time so SUNSET is gonna take even more of a backseat then it already does :( which sucks because I do miss it and I regularly think about and write stuff for it still. But it was always a long-term project (scarily it's nearly ten years old this year) and I'm glad at least some of it is out there, even if I never do achieve what I intended with it.
Having just said that though... I might make a second Neocities account for my non-SUNSET related stuff. I have so many stories I want to tell, and majority of them aren't anywhere near as in-depth or broadly encompassing as SUNSET's world, so I could more easily condense multiple into one site. Is that too ambitious of me? Probably.
